HW for Fri 10/10 and Mon 10/13

Periods 2 and 5

1. Simulation Debrief: using We the People lessons 10-12 and our simulation, answer each of the Simulation Discussion questions as they were actually decided at the Philadelphia Convention.

A. Do we want to keep the Articles of Confederation? Why or why not? Do we want to revise them, or throw them out entirely and start again? Why?

B. Do we want a strong national government? Why/why not? What powers will the national government have? How will we ensure the states still retain some sovereignty?

C. Do we want an executive branch? What should we call the head of the executive branch? What should be the powers of the executive? How will we ensure he doesn’t abuse his power?

D. Do we want an legislative branch? How many people will make it up? How will that number be determined? By size of state? Or same representatives for each state, no matter the size?

E. How will the population of each state, for representation, be determined? Should children and women count as population even though they probably won’t be allowed to vote? What about slaves? Are slaves considered population?

2. Cornell Notes, We the People Lessons 13 & 14
